Top 5 WTF Moments From The Star Wars Movies

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you probably have questions about the franchise. Some of these questions are answered by the movies and books, while others are left unanswered.

If you read star wars trivia questions, you’ll know that some things don’t make sense. These don’t plot holes, they’re moments in the films that are so strange that they make you wonder what was going on in the minds of their creators. So here are our top 5 WTF moments from the Star Wars movies.

Luke’s parentage

This revelation shocked Star Wars fans in the late 1970s and early 1980s, as George Lucas’ decision to make Luke Skywalker a clone of Anakin Skywalker marked the first time anyone had heard of this.

Luke Skywalker’s parentage was so shocking that it has been retconned twice. The first retcon came when it was revealed that Darth Vader wasn’t Luke’s father after all, he just wanted us to think he was. The second retcon told that Anakin Skywalker wasn’t a serious person but an actor playing a part in a cover-up plot by Emperor Palpatine designed to make us think he was Darth Vader.

In reality, Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker are dead (and no one knows what happened). But since they live on as characters in other movies like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Revenge Of TheSith (the prequel), we can still enjoy them while they last.

Anakin was a virgin birth.

The prophecy surrounding the birth of Anakin Skywalker was that he would bring balance to the Force. And this is what happens: a virgin birth.

We’re not talking about his mother’s sexual history, either. Luke and Leia are both products of their father’s unbridled passions and hormonal urges. But because Anakin is born without anyone ever having sex with Padmé, his future wife, he’s unique in ways that no one else can ever be. This makes him even more potent than Yoda, who was born from an immaculate conception (which means “the same as normal except there wasn’t any sex”).

Jar-Jar Binks.

The Star Wars movies have a lot of memorable characters. There’s Darth Vader, the Jedi Master Yoda, and even Luke Skywalker, but one character stands out for all the wrong reasons: Jar-Jar Binks.

Don’t take me wrong; I love Jar-Jar as much as any other child of the 90s would. But his role in The Phantom Menace made me cringe, and I could not understand why George Lucas decided to include him in his movie. He was nothing more than a comedic sidekick that should have been left out of it altogether.

Han shot first.

Han shot first. It’s the moment that has divided Star Wars fans for decades because George Lucas thought he knew what was best for his audience.

George Lucas famously changed Han SoSolo’sharacter arc in Episode IV: A New Hope to make him look more heroic than in the original film, released only a few years earlier. In the original version of this scene, which is still available online, you can see that Han pulls out his blaster and shoots Greedo before Greedo has time to react, he never even gets off a shot. But in the special edition of A New Hope?

Well, that changes everything. Now Greedo only takes two steps before being gunned down by Solo as everyone watches with their jaws on the floor (including Obi-Wan Kenobi).
